Dave McClure has been geeking out in Silicon Valley for over twenty years as a software developer, entrepreneur, startup advisor, angel investor, blogger, and internet marketing nerd. Dave currently runs FF Angel, a seed-stage investment program for Founders Fund, and also manages the fbFund REV incubator program on behalf of Facebook, Accel Partners, and Founders Fund.
Previously Dave launched and ran marketing for job search engine Simply Hired, and its evil twin SimplyFired.com. From 2001 to 2004, Dave worked at PayPal (acquired by eBay in 2002) as Director of Marketing, where he started the PayPal Developer Network program. Prior to PayPal, Dave was a database consultant & programmer for several companies, including Microsoft and Intel. In 1994 he founded Aslan Computing, an internet & e-commerce consulting group later acquired by Servinet / Panurgy in 1998.
Before coming to Silicon Valley, Dave barely graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a BS Engineering in Mathematical Sciences and a minor in frisbee, billiards, & foosball. His interests include microfinance and economic innovation, entrepreneurship and venture capital, ultimate frisbee, cartoons and animation, and an ever-growing collection of funny-looking hats.
Eric Ries, Venture Advisor, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers
Eric Ries became a Venture Advisor at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, after co-founding and serving as Chief Technology Officer of IMVU. He is the co-author of several books including The Black Art of Java Game Programming (Waite Group Press, 1996). While an undergraduate at Yale Unviersity, he co-founded Catalyst Recruiting. Although Catalyst folded with the dot-com crash, Ries continued his entrepreneurial career as a Senior Software Engineer at There.com, leading efforts in agile software development and user-generated content. In 2007, BusinessWeek named Ries one of the Best Young Entrepreneurs of Tech. He serves on the advisory board of a number of technology startups including pbWiki, Bunchball, FooMojo, Causes and KaChing.
Ravi Belani
Ravi Belani is an Associate at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, where he serveson the boards of DesiHits, Redux, LiveMedia, TinyPictures, YieldSoftware, and Vizu. Ravi also led the firm’s investments in Komli andPubmatic.
Ravi is a Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi graduate of StanfordUniversity, holding a BS with Distinction and MS in IndustrialEngineering and Engineering Management. Ravi also holds an MBA fromHarvard Business School. As a Board Fellow at Harvard, Ravi served theGlobal Board of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs). Ravi is also a graduateof the Kauffman Fellows Program.
